Cowes Medical Centre is opened 365 days each year and is opened every evening, with an after-hours clinic. The After Hours clinic is a bulk billing clinic and is jointly supported with funds from the State & Commonwealth governments’ to provide the after-hours urgent care access to patients. Bass Coast Regional Health in Wonthaggi is the nearest hospital and is approximately a 40 minutes’ drive off the island.
The Cowes Medical Centre (Phillip Island Medical Group) was the original clinic opened for the community over 25 years ago in rooms next to the previously known Warley Hospital.
The current rooms and treatment room facilities have been purpose built (2007) to provide medical services to the growing population of the patients on Phillip Island and surrounding towns as well as aiming to meet the annual influx of tourists.
In May 2013, the Medical & Aged Care Group acquired the practice to move the facilities and services forward in meeting the ongoing health service demands within the region.
